Chain Abstraction Coalition: Our Arbitrum Orbit Co-Testnet Is Live on Particle Pioneer!
Table of Contents:
Missed us yet? Well, The Chain Abstraction Coalition is back with another announcement!
Assembling 60+ industry players (including huge names like Arbitrum, Avalanche, Berachain, Botanix, BNB Chain, Linea, and Polygon), the Coalition is committed to ending Web3’s fragmentation, steadily advancing towards a truly borderless ecosystem.
Our latest Co-Testnet—which featured Arbitrum as a standalone protagonist—showcased the power and influence of Arbitrum’s ecosystem. As such, we promptly began working to assemble a Co-Testnet that would bring this ecosystem to the spotlight, featuring two chains from the Arbitrum Orbit multiverse: DODOchain and DuckChain!
This guide will teach you about Arbitrum Orbit, explain how to make the most of this Co-Testnet, show you the novel chain abstraction within our platform, and much more.
First of all: what are Co-Testnets?
Co-Testnets are the first step in the Chain Abstraction Coalition’s roadmap: they present special environments demonstrating the capabilities of chain abstraction, enabled by Particle Network's Universal Accounts. Within them, you can test out key chain abstraction features, such as having a single token balance for all chains, not having to think about or deal with gas tokens, and more.
Next, we will explain what Arbitrum Orbit is and introduce DODOchain and DuckChain. You will learn how this fourth Co-Testnet works, what incentives it brings to participants, and how you can benefit from it— even if you’re not a user of any of the participating chains.
We can’t talk about our participating chains without first highlighting an industry giant: Arbitrum.
Launched in August 2021, Arbitrum allows projects to leverage Ethereum's security by offering a powerful suite of Layer-2 scaling solutions: Arbitrum One (Rollup chain), Arbitrum Nova (AnyTrust chain), and Arbitrum Orbit. The latter is not a blockchain like the other two, but rather a customizable framework that enables the creation of Layer 2s and Layer 3s for EVM-compatible chains that can rely on other Layer-1 or Layer-2 for security and enhanced decentralization.
Arbitrum Orbit is the secret sauce allowing for projects like DuckChain, and DODOchain. These blockchains showcase the broad spectrum of possibilities enabled by Arbitrum Orbit, each with unique characteristics and ecosystems:
- DuckChain, powered by TONSCALE LABS, is the first TON L2 to bring liquidity and users from the EVM and Bitcoin ecosystems, and also the first non-Ethereum L2 built on Arbitrum's Orbit architecture. DuckChains brings the EVM-compatibility so familiar to Web3 developers into TON’s ecosystem.
- DODOchain, built by the DODO decentralized exchange, is an Omni-Trading Layer-3; the first of its kind to bridge the gap as a BTC Layer-2 and ETH Layer-2. DODOchain aims to tackle Web3’s fragmented liquidity by offering a unified trading environment for EVM and non-EVM ecosystems.
Exploring the Co-Testnet
Particle Pioneer
Particle Pioneer is our Testnet platform where users can explore a borderless Web3 through chain abstraction (ChA). As such, it hosts all our Co-Testnets.
ChA functionalities and new blockchain networks are constantly arriving at Pioneer, enabled by Particle Network’s three core ChA technologies: Universal Accounts, Universal Gas, and Universal Liquidity.
Let’s quickly zoom into the core interface enabling chain abstraction:
Universal Accounts
Universal Accounts (UAs) can be created via a Web3 wallet or social login. They allow you to interact with all chains as if they were one, with one balance and address across them and fully-transparent interconnectivity.
This wave of Co-Testnets enables you to experience ChA through two core tasks: purchasing NFTs with tokens in multiple chains and making cross-chain transactions, both leveraging the participating networks. We'll show you how to perform these tasks within Particle Pioneer below.
Using Particle Pioneer and Universal Accounts
To begin interacting with Particle Pioneer:
- Go to pioneer.particle.network.
- Go through a basic registration process and connect a wallet or social account to create a Universal Account. From now on, your connected wallet or social account will be your login into your Universal Account. Importantly, new users who connect wallets from select providers may be eligible for the Bonus Wallet (up to 150%) if they fulfill all the prerequisites. Depending on your connected wallet’s existing activity, you may also be entitled to receive a special OG reward!
- Click on “Points” to land at the Points Dashboard.
- Your Universal Account will be accessible through the bottom right corner button. It will display all your Testnet tokens within a single interface, as shown below.
- Within your Universal Account, you will have a single address for every integrated chain. You can top off your account with assets from any public Faucet (we’ve included links to them in the interface in case you need them!)
- That’s it! You’re now ready to start exploring the Particle Pioneer platform.
Purchasing NFTs across chains
We’ve recently added to our Co-Testnet the ability to purchase NFTs on participating chains using assets from anywhere else. This demonstrates the seamless chain-agnostic experience enabled by chain abstraction. To use this feature:
- Scroll to Task #4 and click “Purchase NFT”
- Select the Testnet chain on which you’d like to purchase an NFT.
- Click “Purchase”.
- Select one or more of your Testnet tokens from any Testnet to pay for the NFT.
- That’s it! That’s how easy it is to leverage chain abstraction, and how easy Web3 is about to become, thanks to the ability to perform any transaction on any chain with Universal Accounts. This is also demonstrated in the video below:
Sending transactions across networks
You can earn additional points by sending cross-chain transactions with your Universal Account. Due to chain abstraction’s magic, this is no harder than sending a regular transaction!
- Click the “Send” button to initiate a cross-chain transaction. Importantly, to receive the Co-Testnet bonus, you will need to send USDG. If you don't yet have USG, Particle's "Universal Gas" token, you can obtain it by depositing any Testnet asset.
- Select the asset you wish to send by clicking on the menu at the top. You can select the destination chain (use the participating chains to get our Co-Testnet bonus!) as well.
- Enter the address you want to send to in the “To” field. Insert the amount that will be sent in the “Amount” field.
- Click “Next” and inspect the details of the transaction. If you’re satisfied, click “Send” and confirm it.
That’s all there is to it, you just sent a cross-chain transaction!
For extra points, you can also scroll down the Points dashboard and follow this Co-Testnet’s chains on Twitter (X), and go to the Particle Pioneer Booster page to mint a commemorative Booster NFT.
Stay Tuned for What's Next
As our Co-Testnets introduce the experience of a borderless Web3 to the Arbitrum-verse, the Chain Abstraction Coalition's momentum is unmistakable. Together, we’re demonstrating what’s possible for a next-generation user experience while our ecosystem evolves and reinvents itself.

About Particle Network
Particle Network powers chain abstraction, addressing Web3's fragmentation of users and liquidity. This is enabled by Particle's Universal Accounts, which give users a unified account and balance across all chains.
