Cracking Universal Accounts' Adoption: Rollout Roadmap

Cracking Universal Accounts' Adoption: Rollout Roadmap

Table of Contents:

The vision is simple, yet powerful: One account, one balance, any chain.

Getting there may be trickier—but we believe Universal Accounts, with a strategic go-to-market, can become a backbone for the ecosystem, facilitating the unification of users and liquidity across Web3.

Today, we're thrilled to share our strategic roadmap for the widespread integration of UAs… and, by proxy, our vision for the abstraction of the entire ecosystem.

The adoption challenge

A few things never change:

  • Technologies become more powerful as they’re adopted by more people or organizations (network effects).
  • One of the greatest challenges of abstracting blockchains is creating the flexibility for infrastructure to be adopted without it being incompatible with additional innovations or existing solutions.
  • For users to leverage a new technology, it must be more convenient than the combination of its alternatives.

With these factors in mind, we conceptualized our rollout of Universal Accounts to focus on end-user readiness, with applications in every vertical of the space integrating them to become more accessible, useful, and chain-agnostic.

To this end, we created a three-step adoption roadmap:

A calculated launch rollout to abstract the Decentralized Web.

Diving into the roadmap

As the image above showcases, there will be three release stages to UAs’ launch:

UA Adoption Roadmap Phase 1: Proprietary Launch

For the first rollout phase, Universal Accounts are live and ready to use within applications built by Particle Network.

Universal Accounts debuted within the first-ever Mainnet chain-agnostic application: UniversalX. With it, we are showing the world that chain abstraction is possible, and that Web3 is ready to jump into a new Era.

Powered by Universal Accounts, UniversalX allows you to trade any asset, on any chain, in one click, unifying your balances from all networks, and paying gas with any token. Its motto, “Never bridge again” has become a powerful meme of its own, embodying the vision that decentralized products can compete with centralized ones. It has also turned many heads towards Universal Accounts as projects realize they, too, could be chain-agnostic.

Phase 1 has already delivered tangible results, it’s far from over. As we get ready to allow other projects to integrate Universal Accounts in Phase 2, we will keep refining Universal Accounts and their companion SDKs.

In the meantime, prepare to see more trading functionalities on UniversalX (e.g., limit orders), more firepower behind it… and maybe a couple of surprises.

UA Adoption Roadmap Phase 2: Permissioned Expansion

Following Universal Accounts' initial proprietary ecosystem, we'll continue to expand UAs’ reach through collaborations with select partner applications.

These partnerships will receive exclusive support and assistance in shaping their own chain-agnostic products—whether that is for new or existing use cases. By working closely with partners, we aim to quickly create a diverse, abstracted ecosystem where the idea of multiple chains simply fades away, allowing users to simply enjoy dApps.

At this stage, we expect the most common Web3 activities to be supported by chain-agnostic applications across all verticals.

UA Adoption Roadmap Phase 3: Permissionless Deployment

The final phase of our roadmap will see the release of Universal Accounts as permissionless infrastructure. Any dApp will be able to integrate Universal Accounts without restrictions, and any chain will be able to deploy Universal Accounts to seamlessly connect to the rest of the Web3 ecosystem.

At this point, early chains will bootstrap their ecosystems as abstracted ones from Day 1, and dApps will no longer be confined to a single chain to grow.

In fact, this will make both chains and dApps more likely to create great products, as they will need to compete on a global scale for both Web3- and non-Web3 users.

But how does this tie into our infrastructure plans?

Now, let’s talk about the tech.

Particle’s Layer-1 blockchain (the Particle Chain) quietly coordinates the magic of Universal Accounts, processing and ordering cross-chain transactions across Web3. Within our current Phase, it exists as a privately-run public blockchain, and through Phase 2, we’ll make it fully public.

As such, our roadmap is designed to ignite a greater adoption while decentralizing our technology, allowing both adoption and decentralization to reach their peak simultaneously:

As adoption grows, so will the decentralization of Universal Accounts’ technology.

Sign up for the future

We’re on the verge of pushing the entire ecosystem toward chain-agnostic experiences.

In just three phases, we’ll empower developers to create fully decentralized applications that can rival centralized ones—all the while creating a parallel, fully-abstracted ecosystem that rules by example.

Be part of this transformation by signing up to integrate Universal Accounts within your dApp.

About Particle Network

Particle Network Logo

Particle Network powers chain abstraction, addressing Web3's fragmentation of users and liquidity. This is enabled by Particle's Universal Accounts, which give users a unified account and balance across all chains.
